Thank a Vet

Thank A Vet

World War I ended on November 11, 1918 at 11:00am. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as Armistice Day in 1919 with these words

“To us in America, the reflections
of Armistice Day will be filled with
solemn pride in the heroism of those
who died in the country’s service"

In 1954, President Eisenhower changed Armistice Day to Veteran's Day.

Veteran's Day is a National holiday to honor all our veteran's, living or deceased, who served our country during peace time or war. Unlike Memorial Day which honors our veteran's who have passed away.

It is important to remember what all our service members have done. Many have sacrificed their lives. All have sacrificed time away from their families to support our freedoms.

At Northeast Ohio Rocks! we celebrate Veteran's Day with a Thank a Vet Event. Members paint patriotic rocks and deliver them to their local American Legions or VFWs.

This year, we had our third annual event.

Our freedoms are not free. They are fought for and protected by men and women who are away from their families and face unimaginable dangers and hardships. We owe a debt of gratitude to these men and women.

If you are interested in Thanking a Veteran for their service, we hope that you join us in creating and sharing painted rocks. They bring smiles to people's faces.

You can visit these sites to learn how and where to share with our veterans.

Remember what others have done for you. Thank a Vet.
