Millions of us watched in horror as our great nation was attacked before our very eyes. A hijacked plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center as many of us were dropping off our children to school and arriving at work. Moments later another plane crashes into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
Two Ohio flights are hijacked. One in Southern Ohio. The other in Northern Ohio.
Approximately one half hour after planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the plane hijacked over Southern Ohio crashes into the Pentagon.
By 10:00am the plane hijacked over Northern Ohio believed to be intended for the Capitol or the White House was diverted by heroes and crashes in Shanksville, PA.
We watched in total disbelief what was happening to our country and to our fellow Americans. We watched as first responders risked their own lives searching for people to rescue.
As we remember this day, we are reminded there is hate in this world that can harm us but more importantly we are reminded of who we are and what we have become.
From these unspeakable acts more love was born then the hate that was perpetrated. Love for each person who unknowingly lost their life or loved one. Love for each person who stopped what they were doing to unselfishly rush to another person's aid. Love for each person who protects and serves our amazing country. We remember.
Each continued beat of our hearts, each tear that falls as we remember is not a sign of weakness by of our great strength.
September 11, 2001 forever lives in all our hearts. We watched these horrible events unfold. We grieved for strangers and the loved ones they lost. We rejoiced in the fact there were still heroes.
